מילות השיר "Mom was on the Phone" — ברק פלדמן
Mom was on the phone
Always, all the time
At work, and at home
When she drove, when she dined
Even in the bathroom
Even in bed
Even in the basement
Mom always had
A Phone
And while talking to her friends
She could do other things
Using both of her hands
Like fixing us dinner
Playing outside
And when I studied – made sure
I’d do everything right
But I could never just tell her
Of the game that I won
Or the “A” that I got
Cause she was constantly on
The Phone
And she always used to speak
In very short sentences
Like “Cereal” and “Drink”
“Pajama”, “Sleep”
“Homework”, “Math”
Pointing to the refrigerator
Pointing to the bath
And when I found a new star
She wouldn’t even look
At the light that it brings
So one day I took
Her Phone
I thought of the trash
But threw it in the toilet
Cause then I could flush
Mom for a second
Looked like a ghost
She said "What were you thinking?"
And “Do you know how much it costs?”
But we were finally talking
I was actually proud
And thought where could I put it
So it will never be found?
On a very high tower?
Or a very fast jet?
Or at the bottom of the ocean?
Maybe then she’ll forget
Her phone
But Dad said he thinks
Mom will still find it
So he told me to bring
His own phone, he dialed it
And then he was gone
I heard a short tone and a voice
It was Mom!
She said “Hello”
I said “Hello” too
Then she said “oh
Sweetheart it’s you! "
And we started talking
About everything
The star that I found
The light that it brings
The “A” that I got
The game that I won
And even what I wanted
To do to her phone
She laughed and I thought
How lucky I am
To have her even though
She is now and then
On the phone
